This year’s 2-man team event will be a single elimination bracket event consisting of 32 teams. This is an optional event and is not a weekend tournament and tournament fees were not included in your dues. This event is open only to MHMC members with an established USGA handicap. Players are responsible for scheduling their own tee times for the matches and should work to accommodate opponents schedules whenever possible. I will get involved only if necessary.
The scoring format is the same as last year. Team match will consist of 3 simultaneous matches, one team better ball match (AKA four ball) and two singles matches. Each team match is worth 6 points, 2 points for EACH singles match and 2 points for the four ball match. Matches will be played at 100% course handicap, wheeling of the low man in each match, better ball and singles. It is best to have 2 scorecards available, one to dot strokes in the four ball match and one to dot strokes in the singles matches. Unless players have identical course handicaps, the player with the lowest CH on each team play against the opposing team’s player with the lowest CH… A vs A, B vs B. If opposing A players have the same CH, revert to lower index. If the index is the same, flip a coin or something.
If there is a tie at the end of the match, team match winner will be determined based on four ball match scorecard playoff beginning on the #1 handicap hole. If there is a tie on the #1 handicap hole then the #2 handicap hole would decide the match, and so on until a winner is determined. For example, if low team score is net par for both teams on hole #1 (the hardest hole at Meadow Hills), the hole is considered tied. The next hardest hole at Meadow Hills is #14. If net par wins hole #14, net par wins the match. The tie break method has been simplified from last year.
Matches do NOT have to be played at Meadow Hills if each team agrees to that. Final must be played at MH.
There will be an email with a sign-up link by 5/21. This link will go live at 8:00 pm on 5/23. Sign-up will be first come, first served and brackets will posted on or about 5/26.
Please select a team “captain” to sign up and pay for your team to avoid duplication.
The entry fee for the event is $60/team and ca$h payouts are, $250/team for 3rd & 4th, $500 for runner up team and $900 to the winning team.
Play can commence immediately after the bracket is published and round matches are to be completed by the following dates:
June 18 - Round 1
July 23 - Round 2 (Round of 16)
August 20 - Round 3 (Round of 8)
September 11 - Round 4 (Semi-Final)
After both semi-finals are complete, the finalist should begin scheduling the final match ASAP.
